Mobile AA Cannons are tank enemies which fire scattered streams of projectiles at the player's Plane. They are exclusive to Stage B3.
Appearance[]
Mobile AA Cannons share a similar design to Battle Tanks, only with a black-gray chassis and a different turret: a launcher with four short barrels along with a protective armor plate up front. The turret turns to aim at the player as it fires.
On widescreen versions of Sky Force Reloaded (e.g. PC and console devices), Mobile AA Cannons possess two headlamps that shine beams of blue light ahead.
Behavior[]
General[]
Mobile AA Cannons can be either stationary or mobile. If it is the latter, they move at a slow speed, only stopping if either they reached a scripted destination or their cannon is destroyed. For this reason, Mobile AA Cannons may escape off-screen.
As a tank enemy, to fully destroy a Mobile AA Cannon, the player must destroy its cannon (which disarms the Tank) and then its chassis separately. Leaving the chassis intact resulting in a Chain Loss when flying past it.
Mobile AA Cannons cannot be collided with; the Plane simply flies past them.
Mobile AA Cannons rarely drop Health Restore items upon destruction.
Armament[]
Mobile AA Cannons target the player directly, firing short stream of eight projectiles with a slight spread, each of which travels at moderate speed and deals low damage on contact. The projectiles are blue. Mobile AA Cannons shoot frequently and at a constant rate, which increases on higher difficulty levels along with the Cannons' health and damage.
Similar to most enemies, Mobile AA Cannons are distracted by the Holo Granny Technician by wasting time to shoot at any active decoys instead of the Plane.
These projectiles only damage the Plane (and phase through other enemies) and cannot be destroyed by its projectiles and Laser power-up. However, it can be absorbed by Energy Shields, destroyed by Mega Bombs and Iron Clad's Main Weapon Supercharge shockwaves, and slowed by Slo Mo Chan's ability.
Strategy[]
- Stray from moving the Plane too much when encountering them, otherwise they would spray their projectiles everywhere all over the screen.
- Multiple Mobile AA Cannons at once can quickly overwhelm the screen with their spray attacks and frequent fire rate. Try to destroy some of them first to relieve pressure.
- Keep keen eyes out for them, as their dark paint job and far distance from view can help them camouflage among the Stage, especially if they are already disarmed.
Trivia[]
The projectiles used by Mobile AA Cannons are the same as Spinning Retaliation's Mantis turrets, but colored blue instead of purple. They even share the same animation.
