Jet Fighters are small Prop Planes-like enemies that travel in fleets, dealing damage to the player's Plane via direct contact and unguided bullets.

Appearance[]

Jet Fighters are fixed-wings aircrafts with a visible pilot's seat in the center and two tailplanes, partially resembling the Messerschmitt Me 262 fighter aircraft. They produce three blue exhaust trails from the engines and rear as well as wingtip vortices during flight.

Their bullets are blue, purple and white, which are identical to those discharged by Battle Tanks.

Behavior[]

Jet Fighters function similar to Prop Plane (and Drones) enemies: travels in a specific trajectory as fleets. Unlike those previous enemies, Jet Fighters are armed, capable of firing bullets that travel straight downward the screen.

Like Prop Planes, Jet Fighters can be collided with and act as hazards. They have hit points and are destroyed if it reaches zero, which can be achieved by damaging them with weapons or by collision. If the latter is the case, both sides will take damage until they pass through each other or either one is destroyed. As the Jet Fighters' potential damage is tied to their health, collision damage can be reduced by attacking them.

An armament is on board each Jet Fighters: a turret that fire single low-damaging bullets at moderate frequency, which travel straight and toward the bottom of the screen. Like other turret enemies, the fire rate is increased with higher Difficulty levels. Since Jet Fighters always fly in fleets that often travel across the screen, multiple of them can create a wave of bullets that leave little window for movement.

Jet Fighters can also often appear with a yellow glow, which indicate that Weapon Upgrade items are being carried and will drop if the aircraft is destroyed. If the Plane's fire rate is maxed, glowing jets will not appear.

Strategy[]

  • Most strategy against Prop Planes and Drones can be re-used against these Jet Fighters and are written in more details at Enemies/Prop_Planes#Strategy. They include:
    • Keeping distance is crucial in avoiding massive damage. This also allow for better reaction time against the bullets.
    • Memorizing their appear patterns and beware of sudden ambushes while distracted.
    • Utilize many features that can help, such as the penetrating Laser Whip of The Classic Plane, Gladius's high firepower, Octopus's mini-rockets, well-timed Wing Cannons projectiles and the Tase MeBro Technician for catching escaping jets.
  • Destroy the Jet Fighters early to prevent them from discharging too many bullets and cramming the screen. When the screen is covered in bullets, utilize Energy Shield and Mega Bomb power-ups as well as Iron Clad's shockwave created by its Main Weapon Supercharge to absorb or blow them away.

Trivia[]

  • Jet Fighters are the only Prop Plane enemy variant to be armed with weapons within the modern Sky Force Reloaded. On the contrary, all Prop Planes in the classic version (2006) will rarely discharge bullets, which behave exactly like those of Jet Fighters.
  • Jet Fighters are also the only Prop Plane enemy variant to drop two Stars on Normal Difficulty, making them the most rewarding of the group (excluding Large Volatile Drones).

  1. In this scenario, the Jet Fighters will move straight downwards while the player's Plane is uncontrolled. Both aircrafts will be aligned right in front of each other, On higher difficulty, the Jet Fighters may pass through the player without being destroyed, losing some of their potential total damage.
